(Translated from Albanian)
The FIRST Global Challenge is an annual robotics competition that serves to showcase young people’s passion for science, technology, engineering and math, which will be held this year in Dubai, October 24-17.
Like about 200 countries around the world, thanks to UBT, Kosovo will be represented at the event with its team of high school talent.
In this race, the Kosovo representative team will take part in the biggest challenge facing the planet and through teamwork and innovative thinking, they will try to solve the problem.
The country representative team has been preparing and working on innovative mechatronics laboratories at UBT for several months as they work under the supervision of UBT academic staff. Together, they have built the innovative robot that will be part of the FIRST Global Challenge 2019 race.
This year’s challenge focuses on the effects of ocean pollution and its negative impact on marine life. Competing teams from different nations will have to clean up the pollutants from the ocean using robots that have mechanical, electrical, and software components.
In this competition, the first place winners will receive gold, silver and bronze medals as the materials of the winning teams will be displayed in the world media.
Last year, the event was attended by over 190 countries around the world, represented by some 1,500 participants.
