Youth from Limón will represent Costa Rica in robotics contest

With the support of the Public Library of Limón Mayor Thomas Benjamín Lynch, a group of young people from Limón will participate in the FIRST Global Challenge 2018, in Mexico City, which brings together 160 countries in a robotics contest.

The participation of the Club AC Maker Space Limón is thanks to the fact of the strategic alliances at the local, regional, national and international level, that the institution has managed to establish, as part of these strategic alliances, more than 11 years ago, the library has an agreement with the Embassy of the United States of America, in San Jose, Costa Rica, called “American Corner” this is an alliance whose main objective is to make available to the public, information about the United States and language teaching English, through collections of books, DVDs, Internet and local programs.

The American Corner, collaborates with the Maker Space, to promote programs of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) where thanks to an enormous amount of resources such as: Snap Circuit, Legos, Creation Workshops and others, achieve children’s participation , young people, adults and seniors in Informal Literacy and training for the use of technological resources.

The excellent participation of another group of young people in 2017 in the FIRST Global 2017, has provided the opportunity for the authorities of the organization to take into account a new delegation of the Club AC Maker Space Limón, which in this opportunity integrate young students :

The dream continues in 2018, for these young specimens from Limón, who thanks to the parents, the Embassy of the United States in San Jose, Costa Rica and the staff of the American Corner Limon, will fulfill the mission of representing Costa Rica in a global robotics event that brings together the most experienced teams of the globe, and that with commitment, effort, sacrifice and growth desires have taken the standard of Limón and Costa Rica.
