Team Colombia 2023 🇨🇴

We are Team Colombia, thanks to the support of FIRST Global, we created a program that brings together several schools and seeks to inspire children to confirm STEAM clubs and become passionate about science and technology, then when they are old enough they can apply for a place to form the team that represents our country in this wonderful event.

This year we are proud to present our team:

Gabriela González
Hi, I’m Gabriela Gonzalez, but you can call me Sopita. I study at San Jose bilingual and I’m 15 years old; and without a doubt being in Team Colombia has been a dream for me, working in what I like and sharing with my friends and mentors, while discovering new things, is wonderful. I love to train my brain and my body, as I am a true believer of balance, so I practice tennis and attend the construction area, as these are the things I like to do the most. Without a doubt, Robotics is a great opportunity in the long term, since my dream is to become a genetic engineer and having a background in science and systems is a great help to achieve this great goal in my life.

Jacobo Penilla
I’m Jacobo Penilla, a driven 9th-grade student at San José Campestre Bilingual School. As an active member of our robotics team, I have developed a profound passion for STEM education. My insatiable curiosity and love for physics, math, technology, and science constantly fuel my desire to learn and explore. Through various competitions and projects, I have honed my skills in programming, problem-solving, and critical thinking. My dedication to personal growth and unwavering commitment to success drive me to push my limits and achieve greatness. Participating in FIRST Global has not only allowed me to forge valuable connections but has also provided me with invaluable experiences in teamwork and leadership. I embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and strive to make a positive impact in the field of STEM. With a relentless pursuit of excellence, I am confident in my ability to achieve success in any endeavor I undertake.

Danna Gabriela Jaramillo
Hello, my name is Danna Gabriela Jaramillo Portillo and I am 13 years old. Currently, I live in Palmira Valle, Colombia and I am in the 8th grade at the Cárdenas Centro school. Since I was very little, technology has been an important part of my life and my curiosity about it has been increasing. I became more interested in robotics thanks to the robotics group at school, where I discovered the fascinating combination of creativity and technology. In addition to my passion for technology, I love to draw, read, create things, and solve problems. It is really exciting to see the whole process from the initial sketch to a working product. Participating in this project makes me very happy, since my goal is to acquire more and more skills in this field to be able to pass on my knowledge in the future.

Alejandro Abadía
Hi, I’m Alejandro Abadia Ortega. I’m 16 years old. I’m in tenth grade at the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán educational institution. My hobbies are researching and reading about everything I like in this case of robotics. I’m on the team because I would like to learn much more about robotics and to be able to improve myself more and more and give my best in the team. My expectations for when I finish high school is to study electrical engineering to continue studying and researching robotics.

José David Muñoz
My name is Jose David Muñoz Melo, I am 15 years old and I study at San José Campestre. My hobbies are playing soccer, playing video games, watching videos and listening to music. My intention in the robotics team is to learn, have a different experience, work as a team and have fun. What motivates me to be in a team is because I like everything about robotics and programming, I also like to help the group and have a good time. My project for the future is to learn many things and from that learning, have an advance for the university. I would also love to continue working on future projects, helping the team and also teaching what I have learned.

Elizabeth Melo
I am Elizabeth Melo Leyton, I am 15 years old, I live in Palmira, Valle del Cauca and I study at Colegio Bilingue San José Campestre and I am currently in tenth grade. I consider myself a very analytical person, which has always called my attention to see how things work and also to create them. I like biology mainly and research so I really enjoy reading or creating new ideas. I have been in the team for almost a year and the truth is that it has been a great experience, it allows me to discover more about myself and at the same time develop my skills a little more and also to know my weaknesses.

Roger Andrés Álvarez
My name is Roger Andrés Álvarez Díaz, I am a student at Jorge Eliécer Gaitán School. I am 15 years old and I was born in August 2007. My two favorite hobbies are swimming and robotics. I participate in the robotics team because I am passionate about engineering and programming. My future goal is to study an engineering discipline related to these fields and become someone who can motivate and inspire other kids to explore the exciting world of robotics by sharing my knowledge and experiences.

Santiago Vélez
My name is Santiago Velez Velez, I am 16 years old. I study at the school “cardenas de mirriñao”. I usually have many hobbies, such as playing the guitar, I play a little piano, I paint pictures, I repair some machines and above all I love motorcycles and going for a ride. The robotics team for me is not just a team, it has become a very special place for me where I have been able to meet many great friends and where I have met very nice people who share my love for technology and robotics. I love technology and Robots are very interesting to me, and I would love to learn from them, that’s my reason for going to robotics, to learn and live with many new people. I plan to finish school and be of age to travel to the United States to work and study in order to achieve a good future for me and my family.

Nicolas Sinisterra
I’m Nicolás Sinisterra González, I’m 14 years old, I was born in July 2008, I’m currently studying at the Institución Educativa Antonio Lizarazo. In my free time I like to listen to music in English, discover and review unusual things, watch anime and learn new programming languages. I am currently improving my skills in java, although lately I have been developing a code for mbot 2. I like robotics because since I met it, I fell in love with programming. I feel like I was born for this.

I can’t stop thinking about how video games created by me would look like, in fact, that’s how I see myself in the future, creating a great medieval combat videogame with a great story and making it available for all formats so that the only condition to install it is to have an internet connection. I know that the experience that FGC will give me, will help me to improve my logic and knowledge.
