Team Serbia 2023 🇷🇸

Greetings from Team Serbia 2023!

We are thrilled to be participating in this year’s FIRST Global Challenge in Singapore, following the fantastic experience we had last year.

Our group consists of seven male students, each with unique personalities and life aspirations, yet united by a shared enthusiasm for STEM subjects.

Our goal is to acquire knowledge and valuable experiences that will serve us well in the future. We are dedicated to gaining insights about the world’s future, with the intention of influencing policies and shaping educational initiatives accordingly.

Given the importance of this year’s theme, especially for our nation, which faces environmental challenges, our efforts hold great significance.

With the guidance of our exceptional mentors, Vuk and Aleksandra, and fueled by our passion for STEM, we are fully prepared to give our very best during this season!

Good luck to everyone!

Marko Jovanović – Student
“I’m a high school junior at “Kreativno pero”, with an aptitude for IT, electronics, and mechanics. When I’m not buried in books, you’ll find me immersed in tech devices, both in terms of programming and technical support, sometimes even maintenance. This is my third time representing Team Serbia in this amazing challenge. I also participated in the renowned competition – XPRIZE Rainforest, aimed at accelerating innovation of autonomous technologies needed to assess biodiversity in nature. Playing rock music with my family band, indulging in jazz music, and recently exploring rap music have become my preferred ways to spend leisure time. I am particularly inspired to capture images of nature, beautiful landscapes, and cars, boasting a diverse gallery of those.”

Luka Zigic – Student
“I am a freshman high school student at “Kreativno pero” in Belgrade. From a young age I was interested in robotics and programing. It’s an honour to represent Team Serbia and partake in this competition. I can’t wait to share my ideas and experiences with other students and to, through team work, find a way to lower the effects of climate change.”

Dušan Mladenović – Student
“I am from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. I am a 17-year-old student from the High School of Electrical Engineering “Nikola Tesla”. My hobbies include Robotics, Programming, and Photography. I am eager to meet individuals who share the same skills, interests, and goals as me.”

Stefan Milenković – Student
“ I am a student at the Mathematical High School in Belgrade. I am also a basketball player and deeply value teamwork in all aspects of life. I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to be a part of this incredible global event alongside fellow students from “Kreativno pero,” to connect and discuss with people who will shape our future world. Robots will play a pivotal role in enhancing our lives in the future, which is why I am immensely excited about creating them and expanding my robotics knowledge.”

Aleksandar Krizmanić – Student
“ I am a third-year student at XII Gymnasium, specializing in computing and informatics. My hobbies revolve around programming and robotics. I feel incredibly fortunate to represent Team Serbia and take part in this competition. I’m excited about engaging in discussions with my peers on crucial climate change topics and collaboratively finding optimal solutions to improve our planet.”

Relja Kukić – Student
“I am a 16-year-old student at Mathematical Grammar School in Belgrade. I’ve been interested in electronics and robotics from an early age and have participated in numerous robotics-related activities. I was a member of my school’s applied physics and electronics section, which took part in the Science Festival at Belgrade Fair in 2018, where we showcased robots we built during section meetings. Additionally, I was part of my school’s FLL (FIRST LEGO League) team in 2019. Among my other hobbies, I have been playing basketball for seven years, and I also trained in swimming for five years. I like to relax by reading books or playing video games.”

Bogdan Stamenović – Student
“Hello my name is Bogdan Stamenović, and I’m 13 years old. My hobbies include playing the piano, programming and robotics. My first touch with robotics was during the 2021 FIRST Global Challenge, the CubeSAT. My motivation is the rewarding feeling of looking at the robot we made, and thinking to myself that we made this as a team and this is our accomplishment alone. I really like the team dynamics this year because we all get along well and are really supportive of each other, and because of this I think we will place highly. Again I’m really grateful to be here working as a member of Team Serbia.”

Aleksandra Nedeljković – Team Manager
“I am the Founder and School Board President of Educational System Kreativno Pero in Belgrade, Serbia. My vision is to create a school that balances education and knowledge, blending traditional values with the spirit of the time. This fosters a sense of community belonging and responsibility towards others. I envision a school where students joyfully and confidently acquire new and applicable knowledge alongside their teachers. Educational System Kreativno pero received the prestigious Climate Action Project School of Excellence award for the 2021/2022 school year and is ranked among the top 250 schools globally. I also led Team Serbia in the XPRIZE Rainforest competition, where, out of over 300 registered teams, Team Serbia was one of the selected 36 teams from 18 countries. I hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Banking and International Finance from Cass Business School, University of London. Before co-founding ES Kreativno pero with my sister in 2007, I worked in auditing firms in Cyprus and in telecommunication companies Mobtel and Telenor in Serbia.”

Vuk Vujović – Technical Mentor
“I hold Master’s degrees in electrical engineering and business administration. Currently, I work at the high school of Kreativno pero in Belgrade as a Professor of Computer Science. Additionally, I work at the Faculty of Information Technologies at Alfa BK University in Belgrade as an Assistant Professor for two courses: Programming and Software Engineering. I am also in the process of completing my PhD thesis on “Contribution to the development of information systems aimed at improving business in construction companies in Serbia.” I have published over twelve scientific papers on information systems and educational software. With over 15 years of experience in private business companies at the highest managerial positions, I bring a wealth of expertise to my role.”
