Team Seychelles 2023 🇸🇨

Team Seychelles comprised of 10 young students from private and public schools. All these students have come together as a team and are keen to learn about the wonders of robotics and how impactful on the world it can be. All the students are absolutely thrilled and very passionate about this year’s FIRST Global robotics Challenge and cannot wait to share their own ideas of preventing hydrogen emissions in our modern day and age.

The members of the 2023 FIRST global robotics team:

1. DENIS HOAREAU
My name is Denis Hoareau. I am a student who lives and studies in Seychelles. I love sciences and what they bring upon our beautiful world, the good that it gives to us and how it helps improve our lives and lengthens the arm which is in a constant search to expand our reach upon the universe. I chose to participate in Team Seychelles because I think that this robotics competition would as well help us in the goal of solving the problems we ourselves put upon the world, to fix what we have done. Aside from all that, I very much love Sci-Fi genres which bring hope and give us a glimpse on what we are to achieve in the not so far future.
I play a lot of games when I have free time, which I am currently ranked #1 locally in a rhythm game called osu! Some of my few skills that I have are being able to code and I am also able to speak a few languages like French, English, Seychellois Creole which is the language we speak here in Seychelles, and a bit of Japanese as I am currently studying the language for my future endeavors in University.

2. GABRIEL SUZETTE
Hey, I’m Gabriel Suzette, and I’m 14 years old. I’m really into programming; it’s like solving puzzles, and I also love overcomplicating simple projects. I mostly use Python but also know how to use HTML and CSS. Programming has become a significant part of who I am. Additionally, I love that there is always something new to learn and create! I want to join this year’s FIRST Global Challenge to broaden my knowledge in robotics and programming. I see it as a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in building a robot.

3. CARL LIEZEAU
My name is Carl Liezeau. I am 15 years old. I have joined the robotics competition to learn about how various components, work together with the team to construct the robot and to learn a new programming language. I’m excited about the FIRST Global Challenge because I love anything that involves competitive people, teamwork, innovation, and programming. Programming, ethical hacking, cloud management, and cyber security are areas in which I am particularly interested. I have completed Alison courses in cybersecurity, C++, Python, Java script, ethical hacking, cloud management, and a diploma in Hacking and networking.

4. ADRIEN HOAREU
I am Adrien Hoareau. I’m 14 years old and from Belonie school. I always had an interest in technology and the way it’s improving over time, and I wanted to have the experience in coding and building robots, but I never knew where to start so I joined to get the experience.

5. ARCHANA
My name is Archana and I have always liked computers and technology; I learned to code in a few programming languages and briefly fiddled around with a friend’s Raspberry Pi, so when I got the opportunity to learn how to create a robot, I was thrilled! In the future, I would like to live in a habitable world, so I am looking forward to working to achieve that in the present.

6. SHALINI RAJA
My name is Shalini Raja, I am 16 years old and I am in year 12 in International School Seychelles. I am very captivated by the robotics industry and interested in working in the field so this competition is a very exciting opportunity for me to grow my knowledge on the robotics field. I am very passionate about learning and I love a good challenge. In addition, I am also a strong supporter of a more sustainable way of living. Therefore, this competition is a brilliant way for me to communicate my support for a greener Earth.

7. ZIA ADAMS
My name is Zia Adam, I’m 16 years old and I’m about to start A-Levels. My interest in technology comes from a younger age. I’m a gamer who wants to figure out how to make games myself, and later on publish a few. In the future, I would like to study Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at university. I am excited to be participating in this year’s FIRSTGlobal robotics Challenge as it presents an opportunity for me to grow and learn as an individual and as a team. I am proud to represent my country as Team Seychelles.

8. SLOK VITHANI
My name is Slok Vithani and I am 14 years old and going into year 10 in international school Seychelles. I am passionate about computer science and chemistry and strongly agree in living in a green and clean future. This challenge will help me develop my computing and robotics skills as well as raise awareness about clean energy, therefore I am enthusiastic and keen about participating in this year’s FIRST Global Challenge. Aghast by the results of climate change and the effects of greenhouse emissions, I’m determined to show my support in making a greener and cleaner future.

9.KEANU BARREAU
Keanu Barreau is 15 years old and is in S4¹/10th grade from Ile Perseverance Secondary. It has been one of his main interests to know more about the different Programming languages, Coding, and robotics. He hopes that he will learn more from this experience, to help him in his future career.

10. JAEDEN ERNESTA
My name is Jaeden Ernesta, I am 15 years old and I am currently in Secondary 4 at Anse Royale Secondary School. I am a returning member of the team from the 2022 FIRST Global robotics Challenge and I am now doing it for a second time being just as interested and excited to work on the robot as the first time around. I’ve always had an interest in computers and programming as well as a passion for robotics and hope I can do the very best I can to win this years competition.
