Navendra (17) – A coding enthusiast, a cinephile and a classic car enthusiast. This is the third time Navendra has been a member of Sri Lanka’s FIRST Global Team. Navendra is the President of the school Robotics and Coding Club and is a member of its badminton squad and cricket team and is excited and proud to represent Sri Lanka this year. Alongside messing around with tech, he enjoys playing piano and cycling.
Hanzalah (17) – Hanzalah’s creative approach to robotics helped him come up with innovative designs for the robot. With his bubbly and outgoing personality he soon became an irreplaceable part of the team. His interests don’t end at robotics as he is an avid football player and an excellent basketball player.
Sanithu (18) – Sanithu is enthusiastic about STEM and firmly believes in its potential to address critical global challenges such as climate change, food and water scarcity and health issues. He is particularly interested in exploring the role of STEM in finding solutions to these pressing problems. With a passion for robotics and various hobbies including working out, playing the piano, playing tennis, and capturing random pictures of cityscapes, he sees FIRST Global as an ideal platform to gain valuable insights and collaborate with others in the pursuit of their interests and aspiration.
Nisanga (17) – Despite being new to the world of robotics, Nisanga eagerly participates in FIRST Global to showcase his passion for engineering. As a Moir scholar, he continuously seeks innovative solutions, perseveres to expand his knowledge by learning new things, and constantly strives to improve his problem-solving skills. Apart from his newfound passion for robotics, Nisanga is always looking to hone his intellect by challenging his mind through strategic games like chess and also enjoys playing cricket with his friends.
Malith (17) – With aspirations of being an engineer, Malith has always loved problem solving and being creative. The design and creative aspect of robotics, as well as the attention to detail and patience required to build a robot, has appealed greatly and led him to develop a close interest in robotics and building.
Udan (18) – A delightful individual who effortlessly combines humor, creativity, and innovative problem-solving skills. At a young age, Udan’s fascination with robotics ignited a passion that continues to drive his journey in the world of technology. When not immersed in the realm of robotics, Udan finds solace and excitement on the waters as a passionate and dedicated sailor, embracing the boundless freedom of the open sea.
Luchitha (18) – An excellent mathematician, showcasing his passion for mathematics through his outstanding achievements in the Math Olympiad. Alongside his love for numbers, Luchitha enjoys the mental challenges of chess and the physical agility of badminton. His proficiency in physics and mechanics further enhances his problem-solving skills, making him a valuable asset to the team.
Sadika (16) – Having done robotics only for a short amount of time, he never knew he had a passion for building robots and creating inventions to make a change until recently. During his free time, he enjoys learning new things and loves to spend time with nature.
Jayharish (17) – Meet Jay, a dedicated team member with a passion for robotics and Arduino. Beyond the realm of robotics, he has ventured into the intellectually stimulating world of chess, finding joy in strategic gameplay. Alongside his tech prowess, he maintains a healthy balance by actively participating in sports and fitness.
Kada (16) – In addition to his fascination with the physical aspects of robotics, Kada is equally enthralled by the world of programming. He considers coding as more than just a skill; it’s a cherished hobby that allows him to bring his ideas to life. He spends countless hours writing and testing small programs, finding joy in the process of problem-solving and creating efficient algorithms. This love for coding seamlessly intertwines with his robotics pursuits, enabling him to program complex behaviors and functionalities into his robotic creations.
Praveen (14) – At 14 years old, Praveen is the youngest in the team, but is already a recipient of A* in IGCSE mathematics and additional mathematics and has won many medals in national and international mathematics and computer scienceI Olympiads. He was part of the team in the 2022 FIRST Global Challenge and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and he hopes to make a positive contribution this year as well. He is an avid coder with a passion for mathematics, computer science and drama. He enjoys playing basketball, badminton and chess in his free time, and his main hobby is solving Rubik’s cubes. He dreams of a future in mathematics, coding and artificial intelligence.
