As a collective force, Islam, Nailat, Noela, Nurath, and Radhia form an inspired and diverse team of young generations, representing the future of STEM in the United Republic of Tanzania. Their individual passions and aspirations converge to create a team that is determined to excel in the FIRST Global robotic Challenge, showcasing innovation, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the possibilities within the world of technology and engineering.
Islam is a determined and motivated student who has completed Form Four at Mzimuni. With a strong aspiration to become an IT technician, Islam’s fascination with technology and coding is evident in his pursuit of knowledge and skills in this field. His coding background provides him with a solid foundation, and his ambition to excel is further fueled by his desire to be a team captain. Islam’s leadership qualities and technical prowess make him an invaluable asset to the team, driving them towards success in the FIRST Global robotic challenge.
Nailat, a dedicated Form Three student at Sega Girls, is deeply passionate about computer coding and programming. Her dream of becoming a computer engineer is a testament to her unwavering commitment to the world of technology. Nailat’s enthusiasm for coding and her desire to innovate are evident in her constant pursuit of knowledge and her dedication to honing her programming skills. As a member of the team, Nailat contributes her creativity and determination, playing a crucial role in the team’s coding and programming endeavors.
Noela, a Form Four graduate, possesses an unyielding passion for STEM subjects. Her dream of becoming a medical doctor reflects her dedication to making a difference through science and medicine. Noela’s strong academic background and enthusiasm for STEM lend a unique perspective to the team. Her analytical thinking and commitment to excellence contribute to the team’s problem-solving skills, ensuring that they approach challenges with precision and innovation.
Nurath, a talented Form Three student at Sega Girls, stands out for her active involvement in design projects. Her dream of becoming an engineer is a natural extension of her creativity and interest in problem-solving. Radhia, a Form Three student with a focus on science subjects, exudes a strong passion for STEM education. Radhia’s thirst for knowledge and her commitment to promoting STEM education within her community provide the team with a powerful advocate for science and technology. Mentors
Mkufu is a seasoned professional with a background in electromechanical engineering. With over 13 years of experience in the energy sector, Mkufu’s expertise spans across various facets of sustainable energy solutions. Her commitment to fostering gender diversity and inclusion in engineering led her to take part in the STEM journey with IET-Women’s Chapter, where she actively promotes STEM education among young girls and works towards bridging the gender gap in Engineering Fields. Mkufu’s advocacy extends to her role as the founder of “Women in Energy and Climate Action,” an initiative aimed at empowering women in the energy sectors. Since the inaugural FGC in 2017 she works as the primary team contact and technical mentor for Tanzania’s FIRST Global robotic Challenge team, Mkufu imparts her knowledge and passion for STEM education, inspiring the next generation of innovators.
Juliana, hailing from a telecommunications engineering background, is driven by a fervent enthusiasm for STEM education. Recognizing the transformative potential of STEM fields, she founded the “STEMSHIP Foundation” to inspire and empower the younger generation, especially in mathematics and STEM subjects. Jualiana extends her passion for STEM through her collaborative work with IET-Women Chapter. Juliana’s innovative approaches to teaching and mentorship have ignited the curiosity of countless students, helping them realize their potential and encouraging them to pursue careers in technology and engineering. Her role within the team revolves around imparting her knowledge and fostering a deep love for STEM disciplines.
Hajra, a brilliant young scientist with a background in computer science, is committed to bridging the gender gap in the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector. Her dedication to this cause is reflected in her active involvement in initiatives that encourage young girls and more women to participate in technology and computer science fields. Through her accomplishments, Hajra showcases the importance of diverse perspectives and talents in driving technological advancements. Her role within the team is focused on leveraging her computer science expertise and inspiring other young women to overcome barriers and excel in ICT.
Together, Mkufu, Juliana, and Hajra form a dynamic trio of mentors for Tanzania’s FIRST Global robotic Challenge team.
