Being ‘Trini to de bone’, we here at FIRST Global Team Trinidad and Tobago are beyond exhilerated to be appearing yet again at the prestigious 2023 FIRST Global Challenge in Singapore. So as we regularly say here in our elegant nation, “Lewwe see waz de scene” (Let’s see what’s up). The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (A twin-island state) is situated in the divine Caribbean at the bottom of the Lesser Antillean Archipelago, just off the coast of Venezuela. Most certainly, Trinidad and Tobago has multiple beautiful elements ranging from not only the exquisite beaches but to the mystery tomb of Tobago, Soca/Calypso Music, Carnival, Ancient Forts used during war, intriguing folklore and so on. History has defined our diversity and so, here every creed and race finds an equal place.

Trinidad and Tobago, still a developing nation and only recently having joined FIRST Global, incontrovertibly contains a plethora of innovative young minds, likewise with other nations. Our excitement for this year’s competition stems not only into the experience, but the ability to inspire the youth to follow in our footsteps. With heartfelt honour, we have willingly taken up this mantel because we aspire to be those persons who let the youth believe in themselves.

One way or another, we distinctly see that the defining success of this competition truthfully lies within the message we leave on those around us, be they from our nation or from another. With respect to this year’s challenge, our indescribable gratefulness and elation is factored by being able to meet with other countries, exchange thoughts and have fun. We do sincerely hope to make new friends all in the effort of saving our planet and connecting as humans.

Renewable Energy is quite often spoken of here in Trinidad and Tobago, because of where we are located. Unfortunately, complications especially associated with expensivity have not made it simple. The theme, “Hydrogen Horizons” has intrigued our thoughts, and we are more than determined to help in working towards a sustainable end goal, for our country and the world.
