Team Armenia 2024 🇦🇲

Team Armenia has been represented by UWC Dilijan since 2019. Our school is a member of the 18-strong school network of the UWC movement with the mission “to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future”. It is the first international boarding school in Armenia for students aged 16 to 19.

Located in Dilijan on the ancient Silk Route and at a crossroads of Europe and the Middle East, UWC Dilijan symbolizes the idea of internationalism and friendship and is the only UWC in post-Soviet space. Offering the IB Diploma Programme, UWC Dilijan has a student body of 220 from over 80 countries and an international faculty of 35 from 15 countries. Over 80% of our students are on scholarships: deliberate diversity – bringing young people from different geographies, cultures and socioeconomic circumstances together – is at the core of the UWC mission.

Armenia, with its complex history and geopolitical situation, presents an appropriate backdrop for learning about peace and international understanding in action. It also has a strong focus on education and, specifically, science. Since the Soviet times, Armenia has been strong in STEM subjects and is an IT hub with a vibrant array of companies and a keen interest in the sector among youth.

FIRST Global’s aspiration “to promote peace by working together on science and technology projects” is in complete synergy with the ideas of our school, where Team Armenia is operating as a year-long club and is an active presence among the Creativity Activity Service co-curricular element of the IB programme. The club has 20 or so students from almost as many countries.

Both, Armenian and international youth, are proud to represent Armenia at FIRST Global. Team Armenia is delighted with the steady progress we have made over the past five years and look forward to the competition in Greece!
