Team Australia 2024 🇦🇺

ARTEMIS is this year’s FGC representative for Australia. Hailing from Sydney, they have participated in multiple competitions including FRC, FTC, FFL, DDU, MRT and many more. ARTEMIS has continued to inspire girls of all ages in the field of STEM. Being an all-girls school in Australia, we aim to promote women in STEM with our various impact initiatives. Fostering the STEM values, we always aim to show resilience, spirit and gracious professionalism.

We see ourselves as powerful women who can achieve anything, overcoming challenges with determination to succeed in any way. ARTEMIS has won multiple awards, including the Pioneer Award at DDU this year, and came top 5 at FRC as well. Our team is committed to inspiring the next generation of innovators and pioneers, with our various outreach programs such as our Women’s speaker series, as well as creating teams for FTC across Australia. ARTEMIS aims to spread STEM for a fairer world.

With much of the team graduating in the next few years, we are sure to make a lasting impact on the world in and out of the team and create a legacy for ourselves. As Australia has a large agricultural industry, it is vital for us to take on the theme of Feeding the Future to create a more sustainable world. Meet our five 2024 Team Australia members:

DANA: Hi! My name is Dana. I lead Team Australia’s Mechanical and Electrical aspects as well as our social media. I am half Danish, half Australian and grew up in Hong Kong. I am 16 years old and enjoy sailing and crochet! I joined Artemis in 2021 for the FIRST Robotics Challenge, and fell in love with robotics every step of the way. I am very excited to be representing Australia at FIRST Global! I am looking forward to seeing the monuments of Ancient Greece firsthand before an amazing few days at this year’s FIRST Global Challenge in Athens, meeting like-minded people from around the globe, and sharing our combined love of robotics!

VERA: Hi! My name is Vera and I am the media coordinator and driver of the team. I am Chinese and Indian, and I am 14 years old. I play the piano and bass guitar and I love making music. I also crochet and enjoy videography and photography. I joined ARTEMIS this year, but I am committed to helping the team in any way. I enjoy doing mechanical work. I had done engineering-esque things in the past, but when I joined ARTEMIS, representing Australia was something I never saw coming! I’m excited to be a part of FGC this year because I can meet people from all over the world and create meaningful connections and celebrate robotics!

DEX: Hi! I’m Dex and I handle the CAD and help with the some of the Mechanical aspects and the Engineering Notebook. I’m 16 and am (unfortunately) a massive Pokémon fan and I also love building little scaled models of just about anything. I joined ARTEMIS in 2022 for the FIRST Tech Challenge and am excited to be representing Australia at FIRST Global this year! I’m looking forward to meeting all the teams and seeing what designs they came up with, as well as eating Greek food.

VIANNA: Hello my name is Vianna! I am the lead programmer of team Australia, and have been doing robotics for 3 years. I have participated in FIRST Robotics Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, FIRST LEGO League and now the FIRSTGlobal Challenge! I turned 16 years old in April and am graduating high school in 2025! I really love science, particularly biochemistry 💛 , and also love learning about different programming languages in software!

JESS: Hi everyone, I’m Jess! I am part of the amazing FGC Team Australia. Currently I am 16 years old and in Year 11 at Abbotsleigh. I first started doing robotics in 2020 and my first step into the FIRST community was through FIRST LEGO League. Now, robotics is a big part of my life and has developed into one of my passions! Alongside robotics, I also really enjoy dancing and any sort of performance art. This is my first time attending FGC and I would love to meet every team! See y’all in Greece!

We look forward to seeing you in Greece! Make sure to follow our Instagram!
