Team Bahamas 2024 🇧🇸

Team Bahamas 2024 is composed of high school students from the island of New Providence in The Bahamas. The students on this team are members of a school Robotics and Computer Science Club, a club dedicated to supporting and fostering one’s interest and knowledge in coding, technology, and of course, robotics. Our team is excited to represent The Bahamas on a global level in the STEM field.

The Bahamas is an Atlantic archipelago comprising 700 islands and cays surrounded by turquoise blue waters. Over 7 million tourists a year come to enjoy visiting our tropical climate, beautiful beaches, and friendly people. Our team has a desire and passion for The Bahamas to be recognized for technological advancement and inventions alongside its natural beauty, indigenous creatures, and culture.

Feeding the Future is a critical theme for The Bahamas, where the challenge of achieving food security is compounded by our reliance on imported foods. Despite this, we have the potential to harness our natural resources such as fertile soil, abundant sunlight, and rich marine environments to develop sustainable and self-sufficient food production systems. Recent efforts have seen the introduction of community gardens, aquaponics, and small-scale fisheries that not only provide fresh nutritious food, but also promote environmental stewardship and economic growth. Through this year’s FIRST Global Challenge, we aim to foster innovation in sustainable agriculture and aquaculture, inspiring our youth to create solutions that ensure equitable access to safe and nutritious food for all Bahamians while protecting our precious ecosystems.
