14 May Team Bhutan 2024 🇧🇹
Team Bhutan is represented by a group of talented young minds from diverse regions of the country, united by their passion for technology and innovation.
Among them is Nima Norbu, a Class XI Science student at Tashitse Higher Secondary School. Originally from Tsirang but having spent most of his life in SamdrupJongkhar, Nima’s fascination with technology drives him to explore its potential to transform lives. He has developed strong programming skills through various projects and believes in applying knowledge to solve real-world problems. His ambition is to contribute to Bhutan’s technological advancement, ensuring the nation remains at the forefront of innovation.
Another key member of the team is Chencho Namgyel Ghalley, a Grade 11 Science student at Drukgyel Higher Secondary School. Hailing from Upper Panbari, Tading Gewog, Samtse, and currently residing in Paro, Chencho has a diverse range of interests, including chess, music, and technology. He is passionate about chess and music, particularly playing and composing on the piano. However, his greatest passion lies in technology, where he excels in programming, working with Arduino, and exploring modern technologies. Chencho dreams of building a robot with a dedicated team, a dream that aligns perfectly with the goals of the FIRST Global Challenge.
Kuenley Thujee Yangchen, another key member of the team, is a Grade 11 student at Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School. Culturally rooted and eager to learn about different cultures, Kuenley aims to propel into the tech world while preserving the social and cultural fabric. Intrigued by robotics, she is passionate about STEM and sees the FIRST Global Challenge as a great opportunity to engage with emerging technologies and gain practical experience. This platform will allow her to interact with many STEM enthusiasts and unravel her passion for technology.
Kinzang Deki, also a Grade 11 student at Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School, brings her enthusiasm for STEM to the team. Inspired by her brother’s passion for the field, Kinzang is eager to participate in this year’s FIRST Global Challenge. She views this competition as a unique opportunity to showcase her interests, contribute to addressing global issues, and gain hands-on experience in robotics.
Guiding these young innovators are two experienced mentors, Karma Wangdi from Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School and Deva Kumari Thapa from Mendrelgang Central Higher Secondary School, both ICT teachers with a deep commitment to fostering STEM education in Bhutan. Their mentorship is pivotal in shaping the team’s journey, providing the necessary expertise and encouragement as the team prepares for this prestigious global competition.
As Bhutan’s representatives, our team is thrilled to bring these unique talents to the international stage. We view this competition not just as a challenge but as a significant step forward for Bhutan in the global STEM community. This experience is an opportunity for us to learn, grow, and contribute to a brighter, more innovative future for our nation.
Thank you to our supporters!
