In the vibration of the ocean waves, FGC Team Cabo Verde was born, a team formed in 2017 and which has been present at all FIRST Global events. Considered the pioneers of robotics in Cabo Verde, it has brought together students from different secondary schools in the lively city of Mindelo. We have worked hard to excel not only in robotics competitions, but also in community and educational initiatives, organizing events and training sessions that inspire and educate other young people in our community about the endless possibilities that science and technology offer.

When you talk about Cabo Verde, you think of year-round heat, cachupa, sandy beaches, but our aim is to bring a new synonym to Cabo Verde: innovation and robotics. Since 2017, our mission has been innovation and the use of robotics to solve the world’s biggest problems, this year, feeding the world in a sustainable, responsible and safe way. As an archipelago, Cabo Verde has a serious food insecurity problem, and we want to be at the forefront of changing that reality.

Our team, made up of 10 members (6 boys and 4 girls), demonstrates a variety of ages, genders and skills, but all united in their love for robotics and their desire to make Cabo Verde and the world a better place. We are a close-knit group, both in good times and bad. We are very committed to making Cabo Verde an innovative and sustainable place, and to taking advantage of our country’s unused potential, such as the sea, the wind and the sun.
