The FIRST Global Challenge 2024 in Greece is a universal platform that embodies the spirit of global citizenship, fostering a lifestyle of awareness and responsibility for the impact of our actions. The Dominican Republic team is excited to participate, bringing together five high school students from diverse regions such as Salcedo, Tenares, and Santo Domingo. The team’s journey is marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep interest in learning from the diverse cultures represented at the competition. With a focus on both competition and cooperation, the team aims to highlight the name of the Dominican Republic on an international stage, showcasing their talents and dedication.
The Dominican Republic team is guided by two experienced mentors, Waldu González and Isaac Vasquez. Waldu González, with his extensive background in computer science, educational technology, and robotics, has been instrumental in the technical preparation of the team. Isaac Vasquez, the team’s leader, also brings a wealth of experience, having participated in First Global since 2018. With master’s degrees in MBS and engineering quality, Isaac’s leadership and expertise have been pivotal in guiding the team towards achieving their goals. Together, they provide the students with the knowledge and inspiration needed to excel in this challenging environment.
The team’s students, aged 14 to 16, each bring their unique talents and perspectives to the competition. Waldu González Marte, Quierly Castillo, Lía López Castro, Frailyn Gabin Paulino, Franleny Johanna Villanueva Cruz, and Oziel Sánchez are all passionate about technology, innovation, and collaboration. Their experiences range from participating in science fairs and sustainability projects to excelling in robotics and engineering competitions. United by a shared vision of using their skills to make a positive impact, these students represent the future of the Dominican Republic’s contributions to global technological advancements.
