We are Team Great Britain, proudly representing the United Kingdom at the 2024 FIRST Global Challenge. We are five members of FIRST Tech Challenge UK Team – Ultraviolet (22457), and won the Inspire Award at this year’s national competition, with industry judges praising our work as “setting the bar for future years. We even were on the BBC on the programme – BBC Click who followed our journey to the FTC UK Champs.

Meet Our Team:

Caitlyn: Our team lead and mechanical engineer, Caitlyn brings extensive knowledge of engineering and our REV robotics kits. She ensures our robot is built to perfection.

Emily: As our driver and outreach manager, Emily has helped organise scrimmages and workshops, spreading the spirit of robotics and STEM within our community.

Gizem and Dani: These talented mechanical engineers are our problem solvers, finding innovative solutions to any issues that arise with our robot.

Ella: Leading software development, Ella is the coding mastermind behind our robot’s movement and recognition programs.

As the first all-girl team to represent the UK at this prestigious competition, we are breaking down barriers for underrepresented groups in STEM. We strive to inspire young women and girls by demonstrating that with hard work and ambition, anything is possible. We are committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity within STEM fields, ensuring that future generations have equal opportunities to explore and excel in science and technology.

The Ravens: Our team has chosen the raven as our emblem, as well as an ancient emblem of our country, it symbolises intelligence, adaptability, and teamwork. Ravens are known for their problem-solving abilities and their cooperative nature, which mirrors our approach to robotics and our commitment to supporting one another.

Our ambassadorial ethos drives us to connect with peers from around the world, fostering international collaboration and understanding. We believe in the power of working together to address global challenges, and we are eager to share knowledge, culture, and experiences with other teams at FIRST Global.
