Team Namibia 2024 🇳🇦

Team Namibia is a team built on perseverance, team work, and purposeful insight. One of our biggest ambitions is to make STEM accessible to the younger populace, including other interested persons on a national level. STEM is a privilege and often a luxury to some of our citizens and we aspire to change this narrative and convert it into something of a norm in Namibia. The theme for this year’s challenge, ‘Feeding the Future’, resonates deeply with the team because of our economic struggles with drought. We believe this theme will allow for the unity of the developed and developing countries. As a team of six (6) students (ages 16 – 18) who are enthralled by robotics and STEM as a whole, we believe and fully acknowledge the fact that the future in STEM is in the hands of the youth and we intend to take advantage of this to our upmost ability.

Christofina Magongo is the team’s captain with a relatively high interest in technology, particularly mechatronics. Her interests span across various realms including chess, reading, writing, poetry, and abstract art. She thrives on activities that challenge her problem-solving and critical thinking skills, especially in analytical reverberation.

Rejoice Teca assist the team with programming and she is fascinated by the limitless possibilities of technology and thrilled when technological ideas become a reality. In addition to having a strong interest in technology, she enjoys gaming, web development, and graphic design.

Robert Kalomho performs a technical role in the team. He has knowledge of Python, mechanical principles and cybersecurity – juggling this with his enthusiasm for motorsports, volleyball, Information Technology as well as comics. He plans to study Computer Science in the future.

Jadon has been intrigued by various STEM projects since a young age and plays a critical role of assembling and planning the robot’s infrastructure. He is quite enthusiastic about sciences in general and hopes to pursue a career in STEM. In his free time, he dances, writes poetry, reads classics and participates in community centered activities.

Hein was one of the several exhibitors at the Southern African Sub-regional Forum on Artificial Intelligence. Later on, he participated in a local FIRST Lego League where his team won the Robot Design and Performance award. He is the team’s Outreach Coordinator – be it physical or on social media and a member of his school’s editorial team. He enjoys music, literature and creative writing. He aspires to explore the world of STEM in his future career.

Robert Dishena is a self-driven programmer and a passionate enthusiast of the sciences, with a keen interest in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. He hopes to pursue his dream of becoming a marine biologist. Besides academics, he enjoys coding and playing football. His dedication to both academics and extracurricular activities showcases his well-rounded character.
