Team Portugal 2024 🇵🇹

Our team consists of two mentors, Carlos Almeida, works as a programming teacher, who has been involved in numerous robotics competitions over the last decade, usually participating in RoboParty, Robocup Junior, in which he recently won, BotOlympics and CanSat every year and
João Freitas is a Sergeant in the Portuguese army, specializing in electronics and robotics. He has been a trainer at this school for 14 years. Curious and self-taught, he has participated in several competitions in the STEM field.

Here are 5 students on the team, from two courses and the same school: Management and Programming Technician of IT Systems and Industrial Maintenance Technician at Instituto dos Pupilos do Exército.

Elmano has never participated in competitions, but he has always been curious about programming and robotics, developing various projects. He is considered by the younger students as the Makey Makey ambassador at the school. This experience has further increased his interest in robotics and programming. Elmano has already represented the school at STEM events, standing out for his knowledge in programming and hardware. He plans to attend university and work in Computer Engineering related fields. Elmano is a valuable programmer on the team.

Adriano has never participated in competitions because he has only been at the school for two years, but since he joined, he has stood out for his programming skills. Adriano has a great desire to learn more, is curious, and is always willing to help and take on new challenges, which makes him very interested and motivated for a competition like FIRST Global. He also wants to go to university and, in the future, work in programming the field.

Mateus has already participated in competitions at RoboParty. With experience in robotics, particularly in Arduino, he is part of the school’s robotics club. Like Adriano, Mateus enjoys challenges and overcoming them, which makes him even more motivated. He is also a programmer on the team and plans to attend university to work in front-end and back-end programming.

Gonçalo, though he has never participated in competitions, is always ready to help teams with his knowledge in electronic maintenance and electronic systems. He aspires to pursue a career in engineering at university. With a great passion for creation, he is very interested and motivated in competitions like FIRST Global. Among all, Gonçalo stands out for his affinity with hardware, playing the role of one of the team’s builders. Like the others, he also plans to attend college.

Matilde has already gained experience in competitions at RoboParty. She aims to attend university, although she hasn’t decided yet which field of study to pursue. Despite being the youngest in the course, Matilde is very enthusiastic when it comes to competitions, programming, and generating new ideas. Like Gonçalo, she is also a builder.
