Team San Marino 2024 🇸🇲

San Marino is ready to make its debut at the 2024 FIRST Global Challenge, which will be held in Athens from 26 to 29 September. This international competition, organized by FIRST Global, will bring together young talents from over 190 countries, each of whom will have to design and build a robot to face different tests of skill. San Marino will be represented by a team of five young 17 year old students: Giorgia Mazza, Gaia Moschella, Elena Amati, Giovanni Amici and Matteo Ciavatta. These kids will have the opportunity to test their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills and collaborate with peers from all over the world.

San Marino, one of the smallest and oldest republics in the world, is renowned for its rich history and cultural heritage. Despite its modest size, this nation has a strong tradition of resilience and innovation. As we prepare to represent you at this prestigious event, we carry forward this spirit of excellence and determination.

The initiative was organized by Cotai, a San Marino technology startup certified by San Marino Innovation, with the support of mentors such as Diego De Simone and Gabriele Vitali. The team is working intensely, having only learned of the participation at the end of July, but has already obtained the support of prominent figures such as Olympian Alessandra Perilli and the San Marino Federbasket, which provided the uniforms for the inaugural ceremony. Their constant support has been fundamental in equipping us with the skills and knowledge necessary to face the challenges of this competition.

Each member of the San Marino team stands out for particular interests and skills: Giorgia Mazza is passionate about languages and relationships, Gaia Moschella is curious and passionate about technology, Elena Amati combines her passion for literature with that for robotics, Giovanni Amici is a young man with a wide range of interests, while Matteo Ciavatta, leader of the project, defines himself as a lover of IT.

This experience represents a great opportunity for young San Marino people to grow and deal with international realities. We are excited to learn new skills and discover new aspects of robotics and engineering, as we challenge ourselves, push our limits and discover our full potential. Furthermore, working together will be an opportunity to learn the dynamics of effective collaboration and interact with peers from all over the world. The team sees participation in this edition as a springboard to prepare for the 2025 edition and broaden its perspective through the exchange of unique experiences and approaches.
