Seychelles is an archipelagic country 1500 km east of Africa, consisting of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. The 2024 theme “Feeding the Future” is very relevant to the Seychellois people as it involves improving Seychelles’ agricultural infrastructure. Improper production, use, and disposal of food items lead to scarce resources becoming increasingly rare for subsequent generations, which would have an unfortunate impact on the economy of Seychelles, its inhabitants, and its beautiful biodiversity hereafter.

Brought together by the goal of achieving a greener future, these 10 highly-skilled and academic teenagers make up this year’s Team Seychelles. Their combined interest in pursuing a wide variety of STEM-based careers in the future — ranging from engineering to software development to astrophysics — all involve robotics or programming in some way. Alongside their individual coding experiences and problem-solving skills, their drive to improve the world around them makes them eager to expand their knowledge on sustainable food production in the 2024 FIRST Global robotics challenge. They are not just competitors but innovators poised to make a meaningful impact on the world.
