Team U.S. Virgin Islands 2024 🇻🇮

Beautiful beaches… sunny weather… friendly people… fabulous food… a warm and inviting atmosphere… and a unique culture that’s reflected in one of the “melting pots of the Caribbean.” The U.S. Virgin Islands, which is a territory of the United States, has it all!

While our team hails from St. Croix, we are proud to represent all four of the islands that comprise the territory, including St. Thomas, St. John and Water Islands. St. Croix is the largest of the islands. A fun but little-known fact (outside of St. Croix) is that a point on our Eastern shore is officially the most eastern part of the U.S.

All five of our team members are U.S. Virgin Islands natives. They are:

Nnenaya, age 16. This will be Nnenaya’s second time participating in the FIRST Global Challenge, and she is eager to help her teammates navigate the program. Nnenaya’s interests include playing soccer, spending time with friends and traveling. She is currently contemplating a career as a doctor or architect.

Ziva, age 15. She was born in New York & raised in the US Virgin Islands. This will be Ziva’s second Challenge! She attends the St. Croix Central High school and is in the 10th grade. She enjoys playing video games, watching movies and playing steel pan. In the future she hopes to have a heavy equipment rental company and become a heavy equipment operator.

Ethan, age 14. The youngest of five children, Ethan enjoys gaming, basketball, computer games, and music, including singing. Because of his love for computers, his goal is to study computer engineering. For now, Ethan is honing his technical skills by being his family’s go-to fix-it guy when something goes wrong with a phone, computer, or internet connection.

Saidah, age 14. When she’s not in school, Saidah enjoys arts and crafts, such as decorating her room or drawing in her sketchbook, competitive swimming, music, and film. While her future aspirations are not yet clear, Saidah has recently taken an interest in behavioral psychology, and finds the human brain and the roles it has on behavior fascinating.

Jiya, age 13. Jiya enjoys swimming, cooking, hair and skin care, chess, and reading. In fact, Jiya has a goal to read 30 books by the end of 2024. Robots and coding are also big interests, so the FIRST Global Challenge program is a natural fit for her.
