18 May Team Republic of Korea 2024 🇰🇷
We are Team Republic of Korea, a passionate group of 20 students eager to participate in the 2024 FIRST Global Challenge. Our team is driven by a strong enthusiasm for robotics, with a mission to promote it as the engaging and competitive sport FGC has made it to be. Our students are ready to dive into the world of STEM, foster global friendships, and gain invaluable hands-on engineering experience. Our team’s journey by far has been transformative and has allowed us to deepen our interests in science and technology whilst building a global network of peers who share our passion.
The incredible experiences we’ve had, and hopefully will continue to have, at FIRST Global have inspired us to extend these opportunities to as many people as possible. In particular, this year, we are carrying out a project to expand robotics and STEM education to North Korean youth who escaped North Korea and are living in South Korea, and we plan to participate in a competition held in Athens as part of the team. In addition, we will make efforts to publicize the reality of students currently in North Korea and ensure that they are protected and respected. Our final goal is to enable North Korean youth to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge competition.
The theme “Feeding the Future” is crucial for the Republic of Korea due to its reliance on food imports, limited arable land, and an aging farming population. Integrating robotics and automation in agriculture can address labor shortages, boost productivity, and attract young people to farming, ensuring a sustainable food supply. Additionally, climate change poses significant threats to food security, making technological advancements and sustainable practices vital for building a resilient agricultural sector.
Thank you to our supporters!
